Trying something New

Putting this out in the universe.

I want a team of folx to help create a vision with.

I want an assistant to keep me on task and make sure things don’t fall through the cracks.

I want a professionally designed website that fully integrates M4RJRI, Resist Oppression, Killing Georgina and all social media platforms and groups seamlessly in a way that makes adding content and sharing information seamless.

I want to have more time to create and share my ideas and help to make them a reality.

I am an idea person. I am not great at getting in the weeds. The weeds feel like tall grasses that engulf and overwhelme me.

I need a lifeline. I need support.

Because It Does

because it does.jpg

“I am a feminist, and what that means to me is much the same as the meaning of the fact that I am Black: it means that I must undertake to love myself and to respect myself as though my very life depends upon self-love and self-respect.”

June Jordan

H/T to the Black Women’s Blueprint on Facebook

I can’t NOT share this. The feeling that came over me when I saw this image and then read the quote…indescribable. When something so true graces you with its presence; you stop, take it in, reflect and embrace that felt understanding that comes over one’s whole being. That is what happened. Because it does. My life does depend upon me undertaking the primary and life giving act of self-love and self-respect*.

And that is why I must amplify black women’s truth. Because amplifying that which does not get seen as true/real/normal because of patriarchy, misogyny and racism is misogynoir. Simply amplifying what mirrors my reality acts to validate and expands my reality. No longer to be relegated to the shadows, kitchen tables and beauty salons where black women feel free to love on one another and validate each other‚Äôs lived experiences. Validation and amplification create that as a reality for those who have been living in their own bubble believing their truth is the only truth. So I couldn‚Äôt NOT share this. Because my life depends on this truth. It’s been said time and time again that only black women cape for black women. Black women put on your capes. #metoo #sayhername #standwithjemele #standwithava

*Note: Self respect is not the same as respectability. Let that marinate.
