May Day Monday Emergency Fundraiser

I fundraise for black women who are moms dealing with financial emergencies and life crises. Domestic violence (or IPV, intimate partner violence) is another issue that disproportionately affects black women.

“Domestic violence has been shown to affect the Black community disproportionally—Black women experience domestic violence at rates 30 to 50 percent higher than White women. Several things could be blamed for this—studies show domestic violence is more prevalent among those living with financial insecurity, and twice as many Black men are unemployed as White men. It could also have something to do with a response to cultural taboos.” {Quote from Black Women Are Staying Silent. Read the article here.}
The best way to escape domestic abuse it to move. But that costs money. Help this family (mom and 2 daughters) get set up in a new space. They need $1200 more to make their deposit. If we can go over that, it will help with the moving expenses.
